Welcome to the Whitefish Chain Antique and Classic Wood Boat Rendezvous website.
The purpose of this website is very simple: To share the photos taken by Bob Burnett that shows the beauty and variety of these special boats that gather together the fourth Saturday in July at Crosslake, Minnesota.
This tradition started out twenty-one years ago as a simple gathering of twelve or less owners/skippers who share a love for these antique and classic boats. Over the years this gathering of boat lovers has grown to become a special community event in this little Minnesota town. In 2007, there were over seventy "skippers" sharing their beautiful boats with the public.
Bob and Jean Burnett are a few of the many volunteers who help make this anual event a reality. We felt it was a shame not to somehow share these photos with others who also have a love for these rare boats.
Some of you who visit this website may ask: Why do people come to see a show of old boats? The answer to that question is fourfold:
1. It brings back memories of their own past when perhaps they or their families owned similar boats.
2. In some cases people think if they ever win the lottery they would love to buy one of these boats!
3. They love to see the workmanship in these boats.
4. Admission to see the boat show is free!
This website was created by Justin Fellows, a student at Willow Canyon High School in Surprise, Arizona, to assist us in sharing these beautiful boat photos. We thank the above mentioned people for their help in bringing you to this website and hope you enjoy viewing these boats.
